Dr. Wayne Andersen is lovingly known as “Dr. A” to his friends and followers of his new movement in health and wellness.  Dr. A was valedictorian of his graduating medical class and trained in open heart surgery at Cleveland Clinic. He then went on to become the tenth physician Board Certified in Critical Care. For eighteen years, Dr. A directed the Surgical Critical Care Program at Grandview and was Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology. In 2000, he made a monumental decision to leave his hospital-based practice to devote his full energy to helping people to become and to stay healthy. He realized the monumental role that nutrition plays in lifelong health.

rResults vary. Typical weight loss is 2-5 pounds per week during the first two weeks, and 1-2 pounds per week thereafter.r

After Dr. A started the Habits of Health movement, he recruited the help of many forward thinking individuals around the country like Utah Valley residents Jared and Amber Smithson. The couple lost 90 pounds between them and have devoted their life and career to paying it forward and helping others. “We found a program that has helped us not only lose weight, but keep it off long-term. This is not about doing a ‘diet’ because diets don’t work. It is about creating habits for life! We just also happen to have an eating plan that is like a SECRET WEAPON against obesity!” Amber said.

The weight loss was not the only benefit. As a result of weight loss, Jared also lowered his blood pressure and cholesterol to healthy levels, eliminated chronic headaches, joint pain, and acid reflux, and even stopped snoring (his wife Amber LOVED this)! Jared and Amber are now helping others create optimal health in their lives.

The Habits of Health program helps those who want to create optimal health, rather than react to disease. Optimal health is created through small consistent habits of healthy eating, motion, sleep, and mindset. Those enrolled in the program are also assigned to a certified health coach for support and encouragement. Clients also have access to a terrific support network of doctors, nurses, and registered dieticians and nutritionists.

r

Jared and Amber have helped thousands of individuals learn the Habits of Health. Their clients range from those who are overweight, diabetic, suffering from metabolic syndrome, nursing mothers, and anyone who wants to feel and live better.

r

Jared and Amber have also trained more than 800 health coaches in local communities, and nationwide. Many of these coaches have tremendous success stories on the program, and have moved on to help others do the same. They follow the motto: “It is hard to move backward when you are helping someone else move forward.” A great example comes from  a client, Heather who was recently featured in ‘People’ magazine and interviewed on Good Morning America:

r

“After losing 132 pounds on this program…I wanted to shout from the rooftops how wonderful this lifestyle change was!”
