Spring break finally hit the beaches, I mean, beach of Salem, Utah on the eve of Tuesday, August 9, 2016 and the masses were there to compete in the 14th Annual Cardboard and Duct tape Regatta, celebrated to honor the fact/fib, this was the way Father Escalante and Dominguez crossed Salem Pond in 1776 while making their way to California.rTom Sawyer and Huck Finn could have done no better as at 4 pm each team that included both several divisions for youth and adults, yes adults. At 4 pm each team was given the same cuts and number of cardboard, two 5 ft small boards and 2 rolls of Duct tape, spray paint is allowed, but because of cheaters of past years the paint cannot be WATER PROOF.
r
rTwo hours to build amid suggestions from family, friends, strangers and a few cheaters with screwdrivers in hand, just in case the get a chance, and then the boats hit the beach in a way that would have terrified the Axis forces on D-day.
r
rWhat follows here is a great montage of and evening spent with a community that’s beautiful Salem Pond and mountains towering above unite it in spirit.rI would suggest though, that to get the full affect of the pictures you break out with your own personal version of Row Row Row Your Boat, or hum the them from DiCaprio’s Titanic!
