r Utah Valley University’s Ana Raga and Justine Lauer are leading the way for the Wolverine women’s golf team after two rounds of play at the SCU Colby Invitational, as the duo sits in a tie for 11th place at 11-over-par.
The sophomore Raga, who has been UVU’s top finisher in two of the team’s previous three tournaments on the season, finds herself in a tie for 11th place after carding scores of 76 and 79 on Monday en route to shooting an opening day 155. The true freshman Lauer too sits in 11th place after putting up scores of 75 and 80 on her way to recording her 155. Lauer’s second-round 75 marked Utah Valley’s best score of the day.
As a team, the Wolverines find themselves in fifth place out of seven teams with a two-round total of 59-over-par (315-320—635). The host Santa Clara Broncos lead the tournament at 30-over (309-297—606), while CSUN sits in second at 36-over (311-301—612) and Montana State is in third at 47-over (310-313—623). Fellow in-state foe Weber State holds down fourth place at 49-over (319-306—625), while IUPUI (324-324—648) and CSU Bakersfield (321-333—654) round out the field in sixth and seventh places, respectively.
Santa Clara’s Kristin Le leads the individual leaderboard at 1-under-par (72-71—143).
Sophomore Carly Dehlin sits just behind Raga and Lauer, as she’ll enter Tuesday’s final round in 18th place with a 15-over-par 159 (80-79). Senior Kimberly Nyhus is tied for 29th place (79-87—166) while redshirt freshman Isabella Lesa rounds out UVU’s field of five in 42nd place (89-89—178).
Senior Monica Yeates and redshirt freshman Kaylee Shimizu are too competing for the Wolverines at the tournament, but as individuals. Yeates finds herself in a tie for 31st place (87-80—167) while Shimizu sits in a tie for 36th (84-85—169).
The SCU Colby Invitational, which will mark UVU’s final tournament of the fall season, will conclude on Tuesday. The tournament’s final round will begin with a shotgun start at 9:15 a.m. MT/8:15 a.m. PT. The two-day tournament is being contested at the Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose, California.
