r The Nebo School Board of Education appointed Tona Graff as the Assistant Principal of Springville High for Nebo School District.
Tona earned her bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education from Brigham Young University and her Education Administration at Southern Utah University. Ms. Graff was the Dean of Students at Payson High for the last two years and taught mathematics at Payson High for 23 years. She also coached basketball, softball, volleyball and speech/debate for 20 years.
Ms. Graff received Teacher of the Year for Nebo School District in 2005 and the Most Influential Teacher for Payson High in 2007.
“As educators, we strive to create student-centered classrooms where students and teachers work together to build a culture of efficacy,” stated Ms. Graff. “In other words, a classroom where ALL students develop a belief in themselves that they can learn, and the teacher believes that they can have an impact on ALL of their students’ learning.”
An administrator said, “Tona is one of the most effective instructional leaders I have and the opportunity to work with. She has a quality about her that makes her stand out. Tona creates a positive, friendly culture at the high school. She builds positive relationships with our students, teachers, parents, and staff members.”
One of Ms. Graff’s mottos is: “It’s all about the kids. Every choice I make or action I take must always have the best interest of the student as a priority.”
Tona enjoys boating, water skiing, wakeboarding, traveling and DIY projects.
“I am so grateful for the associations with the teachers and administrators in this district that have become my friends and mentors,” stated Tona. “They have patiently guided me as I have grown both personally and professionally.”
