Most of usbrhave looked skyward and thought how much fun it would be to learn to fly.  Then, believing it is too expensive or toobrdangerous, we’ve dismissed the notion. It’s time to dispel the misconceptionsbrand learn how easy, low cost and safe learning to fly can be.

The UtahbrCounty Chapter of the EAA is hosting a free “Flying Start” informationalbrprogram at the Spanish Fork Airport on Sept. 7 at 9 a.m. It is one of manybrFlying Start events being held nationwide.

The FlyingbrStart program introduces interested individuals to the fun, freedom, andbraccessibility of general aviation. The program consists of a presentation andbrvideo that provides information on everything from what is involved in flightbrtraining, to which pilot certificate would be best suited for each individual,brto how much it will cost in both time and money.

Flying Startbrattendees will also have the opportunity to experience aviation for themselvesbrwith a free introductory Eagle Flight and informal mentorship from an EAAbrvolunteer pilot.  Many forms of flightbrwill be discussed, including airplane, helicopter, gyrocopter,brsailplane/glider, powered parachute, powered paraglider and, hot air balloon.

EAA hasbrapproximately 800 chapters around the world, which provide activities for localbraviation enthusiasts with a mission of growing participation in aviation bybrsharing “The Spirit of Aviation.”  brChapter activities range from monthly meetings to airport open houses,brfly-ins, educational programs, building and restoring aircraft and pancakebrbreakfasts that share aviation with the community and build a strong bondbrbetween local aviation and the public.

EAA chaptersbrare the backbone of the International EAA organization, which has more thanbr200,000 members.  The local organizationsbrinclude general EAA chapters as well as specialized chapters for vintagebraircraft, Ward, Ultralight and Aerobatic flight enthusiasts.
