Carolyn Joan Patten, 92 years old, passed away on June 7, 2022 in Springville, Utah.
Carolyn was born in Carthage, Illinois on May 21st, 1930 to Carl Harold Green and Pearl Irene Brakensiek Green.
Her mother divorced Carl and moved the family to Anaheim, California in 1947.
She married Douglas Spencer Patten in April 1953 and they both joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints later that Fall. They had 2 sons, Dwight Matthew Patten born in 1954 and Brian Edward Patten born in 1956.
She and her family moved to Las Vegas in 1959 and lived there for many years. Her husband Doug was killed in an industrial accident in January of 1967.
Carolyn was the Organist in her ward in Las Vegas for a few years. After that the family moved to Provo, Utah in 1972. Carolyn became employed at BYU in 1974 and worked there until she retired in 2005. She served a mission for the church in Salt Lake City from 2006-2007.
She then moved to Springville, Utah where she lived for 13 years and recently had her son Brian living with her.
Carolyn is survived by her Sister, Sara Roberts, age 89 & her Brother, Garrett Green, age 75, as well as her two sons, Dwight Matthew Patten (Las Vegas, NV) and Brian Edward Patten (Springville, UT).
There will be a Memorial Service for Carolyn on Wednesday, June 15th at 10:00 am. It will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Spring Creek 21st ward building, at 878 W Center Street in Springville, Utah.
