The Utah Music Teachers Association (UMTA) Nebo Chapter is holding a meeting at 10:30 a.m. on September 12 at Boothe Music at 135 N. Main Street in Spanish Fork, and would like to extend an invitation to local music teachers to join. Nationally Certified Teacher of Music, Julie Dockter, will discuss giving students a routine that will strengthen and improve hand positioning, and help them to play the piano more expressively.

2024 MTNA Performance and Composition Competitions
Strings and Pianos happen during early to mid October. Learn more here.

Teachers will be given tips on how to help students memorize pieces, compose music, and discover the four elements of creation as applied to the music studio. The first meeting anyone attends with the Nebo Chapter is free.

Those who would like to strengthen music teaching skills, have access to up-to-date information on music teaching, or perhaps seek to energize their teaching approach are encouraged to join the Utah Music Teachers Association by going to utahmta.org.

UMTA membership is an investment in continued teacher education with a payback that will benefit students. Membership includes membership in the Music Teacher National Association.

Many of the benefits of being a member of the association include:

  • A subscription to American Music Teachers AMT Magazine, issued six times a year.
  • Access to MTNA’s monthly webinars

  • Membership in the local UMTA Nebo Chapter, which holds monthly meetings eight times during the year.
  • The opportunity to network with other music teachers in the southern part of
  • Utah County, as well as with teachers throughout the state of Utah.
