Obstacle Course Race to Raise Funds to Support O.U.R.

Have you watched “The Sound of Freedom?” Millions of people watched it in theaters across the United States, and many more are experiencing it through Angel Studios online. If you couldn’t get yourself to watch it, or were on the fence about what was being portrayed, here are the facts behind the movie, which was based on the true story of Tim Ballard and his taking a stand in the fight against child trafficking.

Millions of children are being trafficked around the world every day. As young as newborn babies, infants and children are exploited and sold into sex slavery, forced labor, or organ harvesting. This is just a small picture of the chilling, dark world that is child trafficking. So what is being done? The O.U.R., Operation Underground Railroad, is a nonprofit organization that “exists to rescue children from sex trafficking and sexual exploitation.” They will literally go into the darkest places to find and rescue children. In addition to saving children, they help and train local law enforcement and governments throughout the world to find traffickers and free as many children as possible.

Another huge part of the O.U.R. is the aftercare services. Rescued children need aftercare to heal from the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual trauma of living in slavery. With that said, how can you join this fight to save children from trafficking?

Our names are Jordan and Sarah Humpherys and we are putting on an event to raise awareness and funds for the O.U.R. We care about this cause because we care about these children. We had an idea to host an obstacle course earlier this year, but we told ourselves it might be best to plan and prepare it for next year. After seeing the film, however, we knew we couldn’t wait. There was no way we could be too busy to do something to rescue children.

We are doing all we can to get the word out and encourage people to donate as much as they can to The Abolitionist 5k Obstacle Course Race. The course will have a total of 20 obstacles and the whole event itself is family friendly. We invite people of all ages to come and to donate generously, as your entry fee, to the cause! After the race, you are invited to spend the day at the beautiful lake. Each racer will receive a Crumbl Cookie, and there will be food trucks, free entertainment, and free games. We are so excited about this event and hope it will inspire and encourage people to support the O.U.R. One person truly can make a difference.

We resonated with the words from the film that “When God tells you to do something, you don’t hesitate.” Please donate to the fundraiser and come down to Yuba Lake for the Abolitionist 5k Obstacle Course Race! You will meet like-minded people and join the fight to end child trafficking, because God’s children are not for sale!
