Robert Heber Boden of Springville, Utah (81) passed away peacefully due to complications from cancer on June 5, 2023 surrounded by his loving wife, Ann, his sons and daughters in law.

Robert Heber Boden was born in Salt Lake City to Heber & Elizabeth Boden. He attended schools in the Granite School District in Salt Lake City, Utah. He served in the National Guard in 1959. He then served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Argentina from 1960-1963. After attending BYU and eventually graduating from the University of Utah he later did graduate work at Brigham Young University. It was at his undergraduate time at BYU that he met Ann Roslyn Kone, they were married in the Los Angeles Temple April 19, 1968. They raised their 5 sons: Greg, Eric, Jeremy, Patrick and Garrett in California in the Fresno/Clovis area. They had an opportunity to return to Utah when Robert took a job at BYU. He served diligently in many church callings throughout the years including, gospel doctrine teacher, stake high councilor, bishop’s counselor, and bishop. He spent the last 12 years serving as the Stake Patriarch of the Springville, Utah Dry Creek Stake. He blessed many people’s lives throughout each of these inspired callings, especially Stake Patriarch.

Robert worked and retired as a graphic designer for BYU in the International Publications Department for the Kennedy Center. He was a man of many talents including art. He drew cartoons, made a replica of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (with battery operated trains) and even illustrated, wrote, and published a few children’s books. The grandkids always looked forward to his homemade birthday cards every year. He loved his grandchildren and was often found chatting with them at family gatherings. He knew each grandchild personally, and kept consistent contact with them individually. Robert loved his sweet wife Ann dearly, he was selfless, kind and caring, the perfect example of a husband.

Robert was a man of great faith, he was obedient, steadfast and immovable. When asked how or why he stayed so faithful, he said he always knew his parents were “up in heaven” watching over him and he wanted to make them proud. He loved the Lord, he studied his scriptures daily, enjoyed and read dozens of biographies of Church leaders, and was often found kneeling by his bedside in prayer. He was a true example of a disciple of Christ, and he strived to live his life in a way that was pleasing to the Lord.

We will miss him dearly, until we meet again.

He is preceded in death by his father Heber Irvine Boden, and his mother Elizabeth Boden.
