On Tuesday, Sept. 8, Spanish Fork Rotary President GaylaBell Youd inserted a new topic into the business meeting. The members of the Spanish Fork Rotary met in the lunch room at the Spanish Fork Maceys store to plan some upcoming service events. It was a pleasant surprise to bestow a much-coveted honor and special designation to Board Member Lana Hiskey who represents the Nebo School District in Rotary service events. Lana was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow.

When a person is recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow they are presented with a certificate signed by the President of Rotary International and the Chairman of the Trustees Foundation and given a lapel pin and medallion. This honor was given to Lana Hiskey for her cumulative time and effort given over a number of years. She has been instrumental in almost every service project planned by the Spanish Fork Rotary Club.

With Hiskey’s assistance, the Rotary has raised money to combat polio worldwide, given scholarships to local high school graduates and presented every third-grade student in the local area with a dictionary. She has also assisted with the Rotary Youth Leadership Association program and is always willing to coordinate Rotary projects that offer service in Spanish Fork.
