I have never fallen in love with a burger faster than I fell for the peanut butter burger at Ashton’s Burger Barn. The creamy peanut butter provides the perfect compliment to the juicy all-beef patty and the sweet maple and bacon just took it to perfection. I could eat only this burger for the rest of my life and be completely satisfied.
I’ve had every kind of burger you can imagine: pastrami burger, teriyaki pineapple burger, bacon avocado burger. None of those burgers compares to the perfect combination of flavors. I never really think of hamburgers as comfort food but this burger felt like home to me.
Ashton’s is called the Burger Barn for a reason. Hamburgers are their signature dish and they are good.
If you’ve heard of farm to table, this is exactly what this is. It is a meat shop combined with a hamburger restaurant.
The first Ashton’s started in Fillmore, when the family started a meat shop after they had built a reputation for butchering meat. They got bigger and opened a location in Delta. After a few years, a family member suggested they open a little restaurant on the side. They started making burgers and the rest is history.
Utah County got lucky enough to get their very own location on August 20, 2026 and it has been busy ever since.
Hamburgers are a classic favorite. However, if you eat at your typical fast food chain, you will get a pretty bland patty with some limp toppings. Ashton’s has flavorful, fresh grilled patties that are delicious.
I know meaty isn’t a great description, but it is honestly very meaty, flavorful and delicious. The patties are also a generous quarter pound, and the toppings really compliment the burgers and bring them to the next level.
You already know that the peanut butter hamburger is my favorite, but the others were close contenders. We tried the pastrami burger and ranch burger as well. All of them had that amazing hamburger with a rich flavor.
The pastrami burger amped it up with a pile of thin sliced pastrami. It wasn’t just a little pastrami; it was a good 1 to 2 inches of meat. It has a robust flavor that really complimented the hamburger that was topped off with pepperjack cheese and honey mustard. The honey mustard provided a nice, sweet tang that really amplified the flavors. It was definitely a favorite for everyone.
Next was the ranch burger, which had a hefty slice of ham, bacon and pepperjack cheese. Ya’ll better believe that it also had the most delicious ranch I’ve ever had in my life. The ranch sauce is made onsite and is creamy perfection. No store bought ultra-processed ranch here. The ranch burger has a lot of savory flavors that are topped with the ranch dressing to make a delectable burger.
The final item was the slammer. This was the meatiest thing I’ve ever had in my life. Get ready for this: First, they put thick-sliced delectably seasoned tri tip steak, then they top it with sauteed mushrooms. Next comes the sauteed onions with some provolone cheese. This is where it gets really crazy. They put a brat on it. Yes, not just any brat; one of their signature brats that are so flavorful with a hint of heat. Then they put spicy mayo on. This is a flavor experience with the juicy tri tip and savory brat. It was really next-level and a meat lover’s dream. I still can’t get over how tender the tri-tip was.
In addition to all the meat lover’s options, they also had chicken sandwiches. You can choose grilled or fried. They have a ranch chicken with swiss cheese bacon, and that fabulous signature ranch. They also have a chicken malibu, which is one of my all time favorites, that has ham, swiss, and honey mustard. They also have a traditional chicken sandwich with mayo, lettuce, tomato, and pickle.
They also offer salads like tri-tip salad, chicken salad, chicken bacon, ranch salad and a no meat salad with green onion, craisins, roasted red peppers, and tomatoes. I wasn’t able to try them but they looked amazing and don’t forget the chicken strips.
And then there were the sides. My personal favorite is the fries. They are hand-cut with the peels on and fried in beef tallow. The flavor is insane and just delicious. I loved them! They also have crisp and perfect onion rings. Another fun one is the fried cheese curds.
Finally, you add in the shakes and ice cream cones, and you’ve got yourself the perfect meal. I got the Oreo shake and it was divine. Soft-serve, creamy ice cream with a generous amount of crushed Oreos. We aren’t talking Oreo crumbs. These were nice sizable chunks of Oreo. The shakes are all over the rim, so keep that in mind when choosing what size you want. The small size was more than I could eat.
Did I mention they have a meat shop too? Ashton’s in Delta started with a meat shop and this location continues the tradition. You can get cuts of beef or even pre-cooked tri tip or pulled pork. I was really tempted to get some tri-tip roast to take home. They also have thick strips of bacon, steaks, sausage, chicken, and even fish. The beef all comes from Millard County.
So if you want to get beyond your typical fast-food burger and try some new flavor combinations, check out Ashton’s. I’m telling you the peanut butter burger will change your life.
