Serve Daily’s longest running supporter, Woodstuff Landscaping Supplies in Springville, has been serving the community for 37 years, and we’d like to take this opportunity to not only feature the company, but thank them for their continued support for us and the community at large.
Woodstuff began in 1987 when owner Debbie Hopes along with another individual started the business. Nine years later, in 1996, Hopes bought out her partner, and it became a family owned and operated business. According to Hopes, landscaping wasn’t something she grew up doing, but it is something that she has grown to love.
“I grew up on a farm in Santaquin,” she said. “I grew up growing tomatoes and raspberries. My uncles grew apples and peaches and stuff. So, yeah, I grew up on a farm when I was a kid, so I’ve known how to work for a very long time. It takes a lot of hard work and I am pretty proud of the way it’s grown and we’ve been a long time business in Utah County. I couldn’t do it without my kids and I sure couldn’t do it without all of our customer base.”
Hopes said that her son, daughter and daughter-in-law have worked with her, and that over the years, they have become not only a family run business, but a business that has grown with customers who they now consider family.
“My kids have been with me the whole time,” she said. “It’s been a great business and we have great customers. We thoroughly enjoy our customers. We have a great deal of repeat customers and we’ve formed some pretty good friendships with so many of them.”
Woodstuff Landscaping supplies carries all anyone really needs to help their yard look nicely groomed throughout the year, including concrete curbing, grow boxes, decorative ornaments, and of course, ground cover.
“We offer 21 different styles of decorative rock, two styles of different dyed mulches, and three different styles of natural bark,” Hopes said. “We also do certified playground wood chips. We do top soils, garden mixes, and the compost is all ready to plant into. We do sand, boulders, flat rock for patios, stepping stones, tree rings, lawn edgings. We have anything you need the landscape with. You can pick it up here or we can deliver it. We can deliver semi diesel loads down to small trucks.”
Hopes, who will turn 70 years old this year, shows no signs of slowing down, and according to her, neither does the business. She said that she is happy to be able to serve the community that she calls home, and she hopes to do it as long as she can.
“It’s been a good business, and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed it over the years,” she said. “I’ll be 70 this year. So, I’ve been running it for a very long time.”
Woodstuff Landscaping Supplies is located at 955 S. 1950 W. in Springville, and is open from Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with fall and winter hours varying.
