2016 Spanish Fork Fiesta Days

r Permeating the air is the savory scent of fried food, parked cars are lining otherwise quiet roads, and then there’s that giant Ferris wheel in the middle of Center Street.  This means the annual Spanish Fork Fiesta days are in full swing. An amazing calendar of events spans the entire month of July and there is an activity to suit every taste.

Extraordinary new additions have or will premiere this year, including a “wake the dead” pyromusical and a 50 mile cycling event. These newbies have been added to an already impressive lineup. If you can kick, spike, slice, lob, or hit a ball there’s a tournament just for you! Quilt shows, parades, military salutes, fishing, dancing, craft fairs, talent shows, theater productions and even live karaoke. Not to mention our very own, renowned, hall of fame inducted Rodeo.

It’s not just the high caliber of family friendly happenings that make this time of year so spectacular. Woven in to the sights and sounds is the palpable reminder of what a wonderful community we belong to. Regardless of which day or night you venture out into the festivities you are bound to see neighbors, friends, teachers, community leaders, or maybe your favorite grocery clerk or pizza delivery person. A handful of fellow PTA parents or classroom volunteers, children’s classmates from previous years or even your own alumni, friendly bank tellers, your realtor, and even your local police officers both in and out of uniform will undoubtedly cross your path.  An overwhelming and enviable sense of community is truly the star of the show this month.

There is still so much to see and do during this last week of July as the myriad of events hit their crescendo and then began to wind down. Get out there. Take it all in. Let these times be a reminder of the ties that bind us all. Wave, cheer, rejoice, and take pride in this wonderful place which we have the privilege of calling our home.
