Spanish Fork resident’s passion for Second Amendment rights leads to informational book

Richard Norman has been a Spanish Fork resident since 2008. He and his wife Vada, relocated with their children from Texas to give them more opportunities to connect with others who share their faith as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. On most good weather days, you’re likely to see him outside working on his latest four-wheeled project. His rough hands can be misleading, as Richard is a published author with an incredible wealth of knowledge to share on subjects that many are passionate about: guns, ammunition and freedom.

As a hard working father living in south Texas near the Mexican border, he had the unique opportunity to live in an area rich in military representation and learn from many. He became fascinated by events that led up to significant events in history such as the Holocaust and the Ukraine Revolution. He asked himself how such atrocities occurred and wondered why the people didn’t fight back. He began to wonder what he would do if something like that happened in his country.

Richard decided that he wanted to be in a position to fight back, and to him, that included weaponry and the ability to create your own when resources are unavailable or running low. And after many years of research, Richard decided to make the information he discovered available by turning it all into a book titled, American Handbook On Guns, Ammo, & Freedom.

The 550-page book contains information on how to protect yourself should the need arise. According to the book’s description, the main idea is to teach readers how to keep guns working without ammunition, or when ammunition supply is low.

What’s even more amazing is that Richard is dyslexic, which made writing this book even more of a challenge.

“I didn’t really know I had dyslexia until I was in college,” he said. “The person testing me was surprised at how far I had gotten. … We see the world in a different way and that’s a good thing. I would get up at 2:00 in the morning and work until 7:00 in the evening (to complete the book).”

Richard is a wonderful example of a hard working, determined, patriot who loves his country, his family, his God and his freedom. He is an excellent, upstanding member of the community that Spanish Fork is lucky to have.
