We are excited to recognize Joe Governale as our Teacher of the Month! Joe exemplifies the mission and standards of ALA every single day. He is the definition of a hard worker-reliable, steady, and always willing to step in and help anyone in need. Whether it’s solving a tech issue, supporting teachers, or keeping our systems running smoothly, Joe is our go-to guy, and he does it all with a positive attitude and a servant’s heart.
Thank you, Joe, for elevating our school culture and living out the values we stand for. We are grateful for all you do for our students, staff, and school. Congratulations, Joe!
When Joe was a student himself, he had educators who made an immense difference in his life; he was especially impacted by the work done in the theater department, where he was able to be guided on a path that helped him to successfully graduate and make the choices that set him on an important course for his life. When we first met he often spoke of his desire to pay that forward, to be an educator that could make a difference for the next generations.
As he has had the opportunity to join the team at American Leadership Academy, he has experienced great joy to have that dream fulfilled. I watch as he now tirelessly pours himself into the work that he feels will have the greatest impact on his students and the school productions. He feels they deserve the best value and experience possible, even working round the clock to give them the most he possibly can. He knows the difference that made for him, he wants to give that to them.
Joe also constantly goes above and beyond for departments beyond his own, ensuring the technical elements for as many events is at the highest possible quality, from homecoming games to assemblies, to holiday events and dances, and more. He knows the work it takes and the difference it makes, and understands that it matters! He takes pride in balancing resources as best as possible maximizing equipment, budget, time, and talent! He has always felt being a mindful steward of these resources will help to stretch them as far as possible, showing wonderful integrity that I have always admired in him.
Joe embodies the cornerstone of the Leadership aspect of the school, fostering scenarios that will allow his students to grow and take ownership of their mantle of responsibility. He has always felt that is how they can best gain the experiences and life skills that will take them where they wish to go in their lives.
It is an honor to be by his side and witness the work he does consistently without complaint or negativity – always seeking ways to improve a process for himself and others, and make the next show, the next semester, the next event even better than before!
