Under the direction of Alberta Hoover and with Leah Huff as President, The Musettes Ladies Chorus was formed in December of 1949 with a commitment to excellence and camaraderie born from a shared desire to form a performing group that would enrich the community. They quickly became involved in community events, joining the National Federation of Music Clubs and participating in activities such as the Choral Festival at the Salt Lake Tabernacle. Their repertoire is diverse, ranging from sacred works and church hymns to popular movie albums and broadway productions.
If the math is correct, The Musettes Ladies Chorus is entering its seventy-fifth year of performing choral music all over their home state of Utah. The Musettes has sponsored small groups, trios, quartets, and sextettes, and has filled approximately 300 engagements performing at various venues, including religious services, club meetings, and conventions, always striving to uplift and inspire through the power of music.
Guided by the principles of commitment, friendship, and excellence, The Musettes have embarked on a journey that spans more than three-quarters of a century. Though the path ahead may be daunting, they take solace in the knowledge that they are never truly alone. With hope in their hearts and the support of the community, The Musettes will press on, confident that their legacy will endure for generations to come.
