springville veterans walls of honor fundraiser

The community has already raised $85,000 to help veterans be remembered at Springville’s two cemeteries, and we are asking for those who are able to help us finish what we started.

Springville has service men and women. In fact, approximately 2,350 veterans from Springville and Mapleton have served from the Mexican-American War to the present day. The town also has a long tradition of remembering the men and women who have served our country, and  recently held a groundbreaking ceremony, as part of its annual Memorial Day program, for the Veterans Walls of Honor.

More than 150 community members attended the event to recognize the service and sacrifice of local veterans. The program featured the Springville-Mapleton Royalty, General Phillip Peay, the Wasatch Chorale, the 23rd Army Band, local officials, and the Springville-Mapleton American Legion, which concluded the ceremony with military honors and TAPS.

The Veterans Walls of Honor are being created to permanently recognize the veterans who are interred in Springville’s two cemeteries.Ten memorial walls will be built between the two cemeteries—eight at Evergreen Cemetery and two at the Historic City Cemetery—displaying the names of all veterans buried there. The walls will be added to the existing Veterans Plaza areas at both cemeteries.

Each name represents a person who answered the call to serve—someone’s father or mother, husband or wife, brother or sister, neighbor or friend.

A current list of veterans is available online. Community members are encouraged to submit corrections or missing names to ensure accuracy. These walls will ensure that their service is remembered not just today, but for generations to come.

The memorials will be constructed at both Springville cemeteries and will honor approximately 2,350 veterans from Springville and Mapleton who served from the Mexican-American War to the present day.

The total cost of completing the Veterans Walls of Honor is $140,000. Through the generosity of individuals, families, businesses, and community organizations, $85,000 has already been received.

We now need to raise the final $55,000 to finish the project.

We are asking the Springville/Mapleton community to help us finish the walls. To view the current Veterans list, submit additional names or donate, please visit springvilleveterans.com.

Thanks to the over 150 citizens who have responded to the request for information. If you have names you’d like to submit for inclusion on the walls, please submit them by December 1, 2026.

Every person, business or organization that contributes $1,000 or more for the project will be listed in the donor section on the wall for recognition and appreciation. However, any amount is welcome and appreciated. Please help us finish the walls in Springville.

Installation for the Walls of Honor is planned for early spring, with a dedication ceremony next Memorial Day.

Serve Daily is a great local newspaper full of uplifting stories. We've advertised the Elk Ridge City Celebration in SD the last two years. Chris is a pleasure to work with and his rates are reasonable.
