Tabitha’s Way Celebrates 15 years serving the community & 14th Year Back Pack Give Away

For 15 years, Tabitha’s Way Local Food Pantry has been serving individuals and families facing food insecurity, and this past June, the organization celebrated this milestone.

Over 1,500 guests attended a free block party held by and for the pantry on June 26, complete with live music, games, giveaways, food and activities for all ages. One of those activities was the “Hunger Hero Passport” and was aimed at teaching children about hunger awareness.

In addition to enjoyment and education, the event launched a “powerful community call to action” by collecting 1,500 signatures for the “No Hunger Pledge.” This pledge challenged individuals to take on a promise to support the fight against hunger through “awareness, advocacy and action.” Community members can sign the pledge online at links.servedaily.com/pledge.

“Our 15-year journey has been one of hope, compassion, and community,” said Wendy Osborne, Founder of Tabitha’s Way. “This celebration is not only about honoring the past but also about building a future where no one in our community goes hungry.”

While the event may be over, Tabitha’s Way is asking community members to keep the momentum going through focusing on the following three key efforts:

Engage Online – Follow Tabitha’s Way on social media to take part in food insecurity trivia, win prizes, and share educational posts.

Donate Food – Help reach the goal of 15,000 pounds of donated food by dropping off non-perishable items at local libraries, recreation centers, and city offices. Many libraries are participating as part of their Summer Reading Programs.

Give Financially – Every dollar donated supports critical services. The goal is to raise $30,000, enough to provide 150,000 meals to local families in need.
