More Than Metal and Paint:Gordon’s Ace Hardware Serves Families in Need

When you think of Gordon’s ACE Hardware Store, you probably think of hammers, paint, wood and other such tools. This isn’t a wrong characterization of a hardware store, but there’s a side of Gordon’s that you might not immediately think of — a side that gives back to the community.

Taylor Gordon’s family has lived in the Spanish Fork area for 100 years. Being able to give back to the community is something they truly love to do.

ACE Hardware is a proud partner of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and has been the number one corporate partner for the past 10 years. In fact, in 2023 ACE Stores nationwide collectively donated more than $22 million to local children’s hospitals! And since ACE Hardware stores are locally owned and operated, every cent donated stays local, supporting Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital.

Gordon’s ACE Hardware, however, takes things a bit further. Several times a year, Gordon’s takes members of their staff to The Ronald McDonald House to feed those in need. The Ronald McDonald House is a special facility where families can stay for free while their loved ones are receiving treatment at Primary Children’s Hospital.

“Our employees love having the chance to really give back to their community this way,” Taylor Gordon said.

Taylor recalled a time during one of the company’s many trips to serve at The Ronald McDonald House, when a regular customer happened to be staying there. When the staff called out to the customer by name, he teared up and said, “I didn’t realize it was ‘my’ ACE that was here.” Taylor said that being able to directly serve someone he saw regularly during such a hard time in their life really reminded him why it’s so important to give back to the community.

Gordon’s ACE Hardware Store offers opportunities for locals to help those in need, and during the entire month of April, customers can choose to round up their purchase and donate the extra change or any amount to Primary Children’s. Gordon’s also holds an annual bucket sale during the second week in August 7-9 customers can buy a bucket for $5 and then you get a 20% discount off everything you can fit inside! All proceeds from bucket sales go to Children’s Miracle Network. Then again, during the months of November and December, Gordon’s holds another round-up event, and the ACE store that raises the most money gets an additional $10,000 dollars to give to their local children’s hospital.

The next time you’re thinking about buying that set of screws or wood stain for your next home improvement project, head to Gordon’s ACE Hardware to support a business that gives back to those who need it most.
