The National Society of the Sons of Utah Pioneers is a growing national 501C3 organization that honors its pioneer ancestors and history. The national office sponsors several events during the year, but most activity is carried on by local groups called chapters. Most chapters have monthly meetings that usually include dinner and a guest speaker. Speakers often cover subjects of interest, such as pioneers, local, state and national history, as well as church history.

The Mt. Nebo chapter meets monthly in Payson, and holds monthly dinner meetings that are catered by Lori Catmull with accompanying guest speakers. At recent meetings, speakers have covered Lehi’s Travels, Utah County Search and Rescue experiences, early mining history in Utah, and Pioneer James Allred.

Some upcoming meetings will include information on senior scams, Utah War, Armageddon and Millennium, Utah edible and poisonous plants, earthquake risk and preparation, Adam-ondi-Ahman, and others.

Members of this organization are not required to have pioneer ancestors. If you are interested in learning more, contact chapter President LaRon Taylor at 801-616-2714. Find additional chapters on the Sons of Utah Pioneers website.
