National recording artist headlines Celebrate the Arts fundraising concert

r SPANISH FORK — On Thursday, January 11, Spanish Fork High School will host American Idol alumnus Jax at the Celebrate the Arts concert presented by Prime Mortgage Lending. Also featured are local artist Katie Higley and the Spanish Fork Junior High Advanced Orchestra with Conductor Angela Harman.

The concert is being professionally produced by West Coast Show Support so expect a top quality show.

Prime Mortgage Lending opened its doors in Spanish Fork in October. Instead of holding a public open house, Prime Mortgage decided to support the school by sponsoring the Celebrate the Arts concert.

“Rather than spend money on an open house, we decided to take that money and invest it in the school,” said Prime Mortgage Utah Area Manager Greg Driggs.

“Our purpose is trying to show kids that they can make a living in the arts,” he said.

Tickets for the concert are sold out, but there will be a standby line. The concert will begin promptly at 6:30. The doors will open at 6:00. Ticket holders not in their seats by 6:20 may forfeit their seat to those in the standby line.

For those who do not make it into the main auditorium, Spanish Fork Channel 17 will broadcast a live feed of the concert to the Little Theater.

Driggs said there will be donation boxes to raise money for Spanish Fork school music programs and a special presentation by Prime Mortgage Lending.

Jax is described as a pop-singer with a soulful sound. She rose to fame in 2015 when finished in third place on American Idol.

Katie Higley is a Spanish Fork resident and music teacher. She is the owner of Creative Music Lessons and will be teaching a group vocal class for the Spanish Fork City Adult Arts Education program starting at the end of January. She was a contestant on American Idol Season 6.
