Nebo School District wants to showcase the Positive Energy and Kind employees and the PEAK Award Customer Service Program. PEAK Awards are nominated by patrons and recognized by the Superintendent Staff and Nebo School Board of Education. The award is administered by the Communications and Community Relations Department.

r

r

Bethany Clark, Title I Coordinator, Cherry Creek

r

Nominated by Mike Duncan

r

“PEAK stands for Positive Energy and Kindness and there is NOBODY in Nebo School District that displays these traits better than Bethany Clark. In fact, you could rename this the Bethany Clark award! On a daily basis, Bethany is always asking how she can help others. She consistently puts the needs of others ahead of her own and never takes credit for anything, even though she does SO much. Her positive attitude is contagious, and she smiles at everyone she comes in contact with. The teachers, staff, parents, and students all love Mrs. Clark and enjoy seeing her each and every day. I can honestly say that I have never heard Bethany say a negative word about ANYTHING! Bethany is as good as they get, and we are so grateful to have her at Cherry Creek!”

r

r

Steven Haderlie, Teacher, Springville High

r

Nominated by Ann Anderson & Channing Miller

r

“One of the greatest blessings was being in your chemistry class. I can honestly say that I would not be where I am today without your teaching and guidance. Thank you for being such a great teacher. I am forever grateful for your influence.”

r

r

“Steve is an exceptional teacher! He taught thousands of Springville High students over the years and has high expectations of his students. His courses are rigorous. Steve has a magical way of helping students rise to the level of his expectations. He has taught all three of my children. The first time I witnessed them solving their homework assignment around our kitchen table, I asked, ‘Are you suppose to be doing this together or on our own?’ I was quickly informed that Mr. Haderlie expected them to work together in solving problems. I was fortunate to be his principal for five years. I appreciated his passion and always enjoyed being challenged by his thoughts about education and the success of a school. Thanks for influencing so many Red Devils.”

r

r

Sherry Kester, Lunch Clerk, Mt. Loafer Elementary

r

Nominated by Deon Bradford

r

“Sherry serves every student and staff member at Mt. Loafer with a smile every day. She knows every student and staff member by name. If you are new, she quickly learns your name. Sherry cares so deeply for the students at our school. We had a student that missed breakfast because of an issue. The mother was concerned and hoped that her child would have a good day at Mt. Loafer. Thanks to Sherry Kester, that mother’s hope came true. Even though breakfast was cleaned up, Sherry took it upon herself to make this student a breakfast pizza. She knows that some days are difficult. Sherry wanted to make sure on that day this student had every chance to have a good start. Sherry has a kind heart and looks out for every student at Mt. Loafer, especially those who need an extra lift.

r

r

“I have worked as a special education teacher at Nebo School District for nine years and at four different schools. Sherry is the most amazing lunch worker I’ve seen who goes above and beyond her job description to serve the students and staff members at her school. We all love and appreciate Sherry.”

r

r

Justin Meyer, Teacher, Payson High

r

Nominated by Jessalyn Ethridge, Tyler Johnson, & Grace Wilson

r

“Mr. Meyer cares about all of his students and cares about our grades. He even takes time out of his busy work day to make videos of our assignments so we can watch them at home and make sure we understand all the concepts we are supposed to learn. One day Mr. Meyer stayed after school with me to help me finish my quiz even though he wanted to go home. He even gave me a caramel apple before I left. Mr. Meyer is the greatest math teacher I have ever had. Even though I’m not good at math, he doesn’t make fun of me,” stated Jessalyn Ethridge.

r

r

“Mr. Meyer has provided many students, including myself, with one of the best learning experiences available. He creates such a fantastic atmosphere for learning with the way he teaches. He goes above and beyond to ensure his students fully understand what we are learning, and even provides videos online for students to go over their assignments. Mr. Meyer is an exceptional teacher, and deserves the PEAK Award more than any other teacher!” exclaimed Tyler Johnson.

r

r

“I am currently enrolled in Mr. Meyer’s AP Calculus class and have never learned as much as I am now. Mr. Meyer is one of the best teachers I have ever had and is always making sure everyone understands what he is teaching. He puts in the extra effort by making videos on YouTube for us to watch, letting us retake tests until we understand the content, and by sending out constant updates/reminders of tests and other information. He also is able to joke around with us. His class is my favorite to attend because everyone feels included,” stated Grace Wilson.

r

r

Heidi Bundy, Teacher, Riverview Elementary

r

Nominated by Tricia Nielson & Cindy Porter

r

“Kind, generous, fun, energetic and helpful are just a few words that describe Heidi Bundy. Heidi is a very caring teacher that loves her students. She is always available to help any of them outside of school hours. Whenever there is a need for something at our school, Heidi is always there first to jump in and help. She is readily available to her team members and the new interns for whatever they may need. Heidi is also very optimistic. She has never said a negative word about anyone!

r

r

“Heidi is a competitor-she has a killer back-flip on the diving board, a back handspring that can go on forever, and watch out for her at the Hershey track meet 50 yard teacher dash! It is a privilege to work with such an amazing educator.”

r

r

Necia Albrecht, Instructional Coach, Salem Elementary

r

Nominated by Lori Bradford & Jim Welburn

r

“Necia, or school mom, is the go-to person for any parent, teacher, or faculty member in the school. She aids anyone seeking advice on anything school related. She is an amazing reading specialist. Necia helps me and many teachers with reading challenges the students are dealing with. She is great and an understanding skillbuilding coach. She gives wonderful, knowledgeable training sessions. Necia does a fantastic job coordinating with the PTO for amazing school-wide activities and reading reward events. But most of all, she organizes great faculty parties and morale events.”

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

r

This initiative is designed to focus on “raising the bar” on providing exceptional customer service, both internally and externally. A key component of this initiative is the development of the PEAK Award. The PEAK (Positive Energy and Kindness) Award is presented monthly to someone in the Nebo School District who “really gets it” when it comes to providing exceptional customer service, which in turn results in positive impacts on everyone including students, parents, co-workers and members of the community.

r

r

Who gets nominated?

r

Faculty and staff members are nominated by anyone in the community through the Nebo School District website, www.nebo.edu/PEAK wherein a special Customer Service link is provided. The directions as to how to nominate an employee for the PEAK Awards are clearly spelled out on the site. All nominations must include information on how the individual has provided exceptional customer service, as well as how the employee’s actions impacted the nominator’s overall perception of Nebo School District schools. The name and contact information of the nominator must be included.

Chris is one of the nicest people I know. Serve Daily is his motto, and also his wonderful publication. The stories are informative, entertaining, and it's so much fun to occasionally see people I actually know featured. Every time I see the paper, my spirits are lifted and I am reminded to Serve Daily. Thanks Chris!

Serve Daily is a great local newspaper full of uplifting stories. We've advertised the Elk Ridge City Celebration in SD the last two years. Chris is a pleasure to work with and his rates are reasonable.
