Billie Jo was born to Margaret and Rueben Wilson of St. David, Arizona on October 5, 1942. Billie was raised by parents who showered her with love. She was welcomed to a humble but loving home by her two older siblings, Peg and Vern, as well as cousins and other extended family nearby. Her younger sisters, Sharon and Patsy were not far behind.
Like most kids Billie would have plenty of adventures with her family and friends. She survived multiple trips to the hospital growing up only to decide the hospital was where she’d make her second home.
Growing up in a small town meant Billie would have to wear many hats. She was involved in almost all extracurricular activities. At her eighth-grade graduation she was presented with the American Legion Auxiliary Award for the outstanding girl graduate. She would continue her strong academic career and go on to graduate from high school as the valedictorian.
Billie went on to study nursing in Tucson, Arizona where she finished second in her class. After working stints in Arizona and Los Angeles she decided to further her schooling at Brigham Young University. There she received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. It’s also where she met Bob Wyatt. After a very brief engagement, the two were married on February 15, 1969, in the Mesa, Arizona Temple.
While still living in Provo, Billie would start a new chapter in her life as she welcomed the first of 5 children. A few years after becoming a mother, Billie and Bob, with two little ones in tow, would pack up what they decided not to sell into a U-Haul and make the 3,000-mile drive to their new home in Anchorage, Alaska. There they planned to live for no more than 5 years. Twenty-four years and 5 grown kids later they finally made the move closer to family and back to Utah.
After building their dream house in Woodland Hills, Billie would continue her career at Utah Valley Hospital before retiring from nursing after more than 50 years. Their house became a gathering spot for family and friends and of course a welcome playhouse for their grandchildren. In Woodland Hills Billie continued to be active in her ward with many different callings from teaching to serving as a temple worker.
Billie and Bob sold their house in the summer of 2022 and moved to a more manageable home in Payson, Utah. It’s there, after a brief battle with brain cancer, that Billie Jo Wilson Wyatt died peacefully with Bob, her husband of 53 years at her side. She is survived by her husband Bob, children Bob Jr. (Cindy), Shannon, Paige (Geoff), Brook (Robert), Ross (Rachel), and 13 grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Vern and sisters Peg, Sharon, and Patsy.
On September 1st at 10:00 am, a funeral service will be held at 220 Woodland Hills Drive, Woodland Hills, Utah. After which there will be a burial service on September 3rd at 10:00 am at the Saint David Cemetery in St. David, Arizona.
