For the past nine months, the Ewing family of Springville has mourned the loss of their son Michael Ewing, 45, who died on July 14, 2025. Ewing was a father of 10 children and became a grandfather shortly after his passing.

He was also a beloved baseball and football coach for Springville High School and graphic designer at family-owned business, Copies Plus Printing.

In an effort to keep Michael’s memory alive and spread love they said he had for so many, the family provided a $1,000 college scholarship in his name on April 21, 2026.

“Yesterday was probably the best day the Ewing Family has had in the last nine months,” a social media post read. “Michael S. Ewing LOVED Springville City. He LOVED Springville High School. He LOVED being a football coach for the Springville Red Devils.”

Since Michael passed away, the family said they are still seeking answers pertaining to his death. Michael’s brother James Ewing said that his death was ruled a suicide, and has since been reopened and is pending further investigation.

“Our family was thrilled to present a scholarship in Michael’s name to Lisiate Valeti,” the post continued. “He is a great young man who will make Springville proud in his new adventures.

“Yesterday was a beautiful island in a very stormy sea.”
