March 10, 1962 – April 30, 2023

Calleen Dallin Golding returned home to her Heavenly Father and into the arms of her loving mother and father on April 30, 2023 after a difficult battle with cancer.

Calleen was born on March 10, 1962 to Verl and Nathalia “Beth” Dallin of Springville, Utah. She is the youngest of 6 children, the quintessential baby of the family. She felt no pull to begin speaking until age 4 because her doting siblings met her every need and desire, and she remained very close to each of them throughout her life. Calleen frequently shared wonderful memories of her childhood. She loved her brothers Gaylon and Quinn, even though they were full of teasing. Quinn loved to tease her by lifting her on top of the fridge and walking away, or by telling her that because they shared a birthday, this year was his turn to celebrate, and she could have her turn next year.

Calleen and her two sisters Lynnell and Michelle also shared many fun times together, such as Michelle and Calleen’s grand adventure 4-wheel driving their Maverick on dirt roads and knocking the car out of alignment (though this was never admitted to their father). Prior to graduating from Springville High School, Calleen performed in the Nebo District Orchestra. She later graduated from Snow College with an Associate’s Degree in Family Life (Early Childhood).

During high school, a friend set Calleen up on a date with Kevin Golding. They enjoyed their time dating before he left on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After a “Dear John” letter and 3 post-mission proposals, Calleen finally said yes! She and Kevin were married in the Provo, Utah temple on April 8, 1983. Together, they welcomed three children into their family: two sons, Jacob and Kyle, and one daughter, Kimberly. They began their family in Spanish Fork and later moved to Salem.

For nine years, Calleen was known as the “Candy Lady” at Macey’s grocery store, filling the bulk food candy bins. She enjoyed that a lot, but really found her passion when she began teaching preschool at Mountainland Head Start. She taught many children in her 23 years there, and cherished all her wonderful memories with them. Calleen always went the extra mile to make her classroom inviting, fun, pristinely decorated, as well as the best possible learning environment for her students. Calleen was most happy when she was surrounded by her family, whether camping, attending her kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events, traveling, or simply visiting.

She loved doing crafts and decorating her house and classroom for each holiday. She enjoyed sharing that love with her daughter and making crafts for her grandkids and others. She had the most contagious belly laugh, especially when riding her favorite ride, the Tilt-a-Whirl. She loved others unconditionally and made those around her feel so important by spending time with them and making the effort to listen to them. She had a lively, genuine smile and a twinkle in her eye that would brighten anyone’s day.

Calleen was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a deeply spiritual person who placed her trust in God above all else. She faithfully served in a variety of capacities in the church, such as Young Women President, Camp Director (her favorite), Primary Teacher, Music Chorister, and Librarian.

Calleen was preceded in death by her parents, Verl and Nathalia; her in-laws, Cecil and Rhea Golding; her siblings, Valene Dallin and Gaylon Dallin; brother- and sister-in-laws, Rod Pitcher and Susan Golding, a niece and nephew, a great-nephew, and many other family members. She is survived by her husband, Kevin, her son Jacob (Jamie) Golding, her daughter Kimberly (Tyler) Huff, and her son Kyle Golding, as well as her grandchildren, Ava, Cooper, and Rachel, her siblings, Quinn (Hannah) Dallin, Lynell (Bruce) Weatherston, and Michelle (Dave) Hancock, and her in-laws, Allen (Rosie) Golding, Carol Pitcher, Stephen (Gayle) Golding, and Marion (Cindy) Golding and many nieces and nephews.

All who had the privilege to know Calleen Golding knew what a humble, spiritual, and kind-hearted woman she was. She was always aware of others and seeking ways to make them feel loved in her presence. We will gather to say our final goodbyes and honor Calleen’s life and memory.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023, from 6 to 8 pm and Friday, May 12, 2023, from 9:30 to 10:15am. Funeral services will be held on May 12, 2023, at 10:30 am. All events will be held at the LDS Chapel located at 25 W Apple Blossom Way in Salem, Utah. To view the service live, go to Legacy Funerals & Cremations Facebook page or click the link below. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to VENMO to help cover the burial and medical costs (@Kevin-Golding-3).

We want to give a special thank you to all those at Canyon Home Medical, the Huntsman Cancer Center, and Paige Steele who devoted so much time and care to making sure our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and loved one was comfortable and for doing everything they could to help her.

The stories are informative, entertaining, and it's so much fun to occasionally see people I actually know featured. Every time I see the paper, my spirits are lifted and I am reminded to Serve Daily. Thanks Chris!

Serve Daily is a great local newspaper full of uplifting stories. We've advertised the Elk Ridge City Celebration in SD the last two years. Chris is a pleasure to work with and his rates are reasonable.
