Springville-Mapleton American Legion to hold veterans open house and flag ceremony

The Springville-Mapleton American Legion will hold a veterans open house and flag retirement ceremony in conjunction with Springville Art City Days.
The open house aims to recognize veterans for their service and to educate them on services and benefits available. A presentation by a state level expert service officer will be given to ensure all veterans in attendance are well versed on available benefits.
The meeting will conclude with formal retirement of American flags with honors, as Congress has authorized flags worn beyond repair to be retired in a dignified manner to show respect and reverence. Most flags retired at this ceremony are older flags from Springville City.
The event will be held on Wednesday, June 11 at 7 p.m. at the Veterans Pavilion at Kelly’s Grove Park.
