Utah Door Shop Celebrates Over 20 Years of Serving Local Residents and Builders

CR Doors and Moulding, a well-known local door and moulding shop headquartered in Springville,, celebrates over 20 years of serving the needs of local residents and builders. The family-owned and operated business caters primarily to Utah County, Salt Lake, and Park City areas, though they’ve also had customers located as far away as Tennessee.

Besides being a trusted supplier of doors, moulding, and finish materials, CR Doors and Moulding also strives to contribute to and support positive local causes. Clint Robertson, owner of CR Doors and Moulding, has spent much of his life making the community around him better than he found it, both in his professional life and personal endeavors.

Robertson grew up with an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to make a difference. In the 1980s, he helped his dad build and sell sheds to financially support their family. In 1990, he won the Utah Young Entrepreneur of the Year competition as a senior at Springville High School. Those rewarding experiences helped guide the trajectory of his life.

After serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Robertson worked in the lumberyard at Utah Service, which is a Springville-based business founded by W.W. Clyde. He later took a management position with Bethphage, which is now known as Chrysalis. Bethphage historically provided vocational, recreational, and residential services to adults with disabilities in Utah.

Robertson supported this mission by helping the residents at Bethphage learn valuable vocational skills such as building pallets, crafting benches, and developing general woodworking skills. When Bethphage became Mosaic and then Chrysalis, it shifted away from providing work experience to primarily offering supportive living services and daily supervised activities for people with disabilities.

As this switch occurred, Robertson pivoted to continue meeting the needs of Chrysalis clientele through his new business, CR Doors and Moulding. During this time, he rented shop space from Chrysalis and hired staff to build pallets, crates, benches, and other products.

Robertson invested in the construction of a new building for CR Doors and Moulding with the intention of leasing out a portion of the building to Chrysalis so the nonprofit could continue serving the needs of local adults with disabilities. To this day, Chrysalis is still a tenant in the CR Doors and Moulding building.

Over the years, CR Doors and Moulding has worked hard to become an asset to the community. Homeowners and builders turn to CR Doors and Moulding to deliver custom solutions because they can’t often find the doors or finish materials they want at big box stores.

Cory Robertson, General Manager of CR Doors and Moulding, helps ensure that the door shop lives up to its slogan of being “your friend in the door business.”

“In being local, we have an interest in being your friend and an asset rather than just doing a job,” Cory Robertson told Serve Daily. “So, providing that additional level of service with some of the flexibility of being a small, family-owned and operated business, we can say ‘We’ll build you a hobbit door,’ rather than some of the other stores saying, ‘Well, if it’s not on aisle 15, then we don’t have it.’”

Customers appreciate that they can rely on CR Doors and Moulding to help them get custom doors and other supplies they can’t find elsewhere. Cory Robertson described how a recent customer came to CR Doors and Moulding for help with a custom wall treatment for the playhouse he was building. He didn’t want to make the wall treatment himself, but he couldn’t find what he needed at stores.

After consulting with the customer about what he was envisioning, the staff at CR Doors and Moulding used a CNC machine to create a custom wall treatment for his specific needs. The customer was very happy with the end result and thanked CR Doors and Moulding for being willing to bring his vision to life.

Like his brother Clint, Cory recognizes and appreciates the loyal builders and individual customers who have kept CR Doors and Moulding in business for over 20 years.

“Through the recession, what carried us through was people remodeling, building chicken coops, decks, sheds, and other DIY kinds of things,” Cory said. “So, we have a lot of respect for where we came from. We’ll stretch ourselves because we want to be an asset to you. If we can do it, we want to help you.”

In alignment with its “can-do” attitude and desire to add value to the community, CR Doors and Moulding recently expanded by creating CR Mulch, a high-quality mulch supply company that serves Utah County and surrounding areas. Customers can drop off their qualifying yard waste and pick up colored mulch, playground chips, and topsoil from CR Mulch (3800 Old Hwy 91, Nephi, UT) or purchase mulch from www.crmulch.net and have it delivered to their location.

In a time when generic, big-box products are widely available, working with a local door shop that offers custom solutions can feel refreshingly personal. The friendly on-site staff at CR Doors and Moulding aim to make each interaction a positive experience. Customers can visit the company’s physical location at 1045 Spring Creek Place in Springville to consult with and place orders with helpful sales reps. Or, they can go to www.crdoors.net at their convenience and place their orders online.
