Heidi Dimmick is a true excellent explorer here at Spanish Oaks Elementary who is passionate about teaching and will go above and beyond for her students.
Heidi taught third grade at Spanish Oaks for many years. That all changed one week before school started when she learned that one of the third grade teachers would need to switch to kindergarten.Heidi quickly volunteered for her team and took on the daunting task of preparing to teach a new grade in less than a week.
Heidi dove into the new adventure and has excelled as a kindergarten teacher. She has the energy and passion to engage each student to reach their full potential in academics, social skills, and in learning all of the basics of how to be a new student at school.
Her students over the years have expressed how much they truly love her and often cry when they have to leave her for summer break.
Heidi is currently the kindergarten team leader and is doing an excellent job bringing her teammates together. She has put in a lot of work to make sure her team is successful. She prepares lessons for her team and happily shares them.
She created a phonemic awareness program for her team to use to help their students learn the building blocks of reading. When Heidi learned of the new state laws, she immediately went to work creating activities students can do at home to make sure all kindergarten students will be where they need to be by the end of the year. She understands that she is building the foundation for every other grade to build upon.
Another great strength of Heidi’s is that she is what many refer to as the “Data Queen.” Heidi studies the data of each student and makes a plan for how to help each student succeed. She takes the time to truly understand her students’ strengths and weaknesses to know how best to support them.
Heidi’s kindergarten team has expressed how much they love their team and how well they work together, care about each other, and help each other. This is something Heidi has worked hard to implement with her team, and it shows.
“I love her enthusiasm,” one fellow teacher said.
“She is an amazing example of a great leader and teacher,” another replied.
“She is supportive and generous. She’s got your back and no one is alone,” said another.
Spanish Oaks is so lucky to have Heidi on their team, and everyone benefits from her hard work and dedication. She also has an infectious laugh that brings a smile to those around her. Heidi is meant to be a teacher!
