r Early on the morning of Feb. 25, there was a big “spring cleanup” at the track under Springville High School. The Key Club of SHS spearheaded the effort and was joined by the Springville Kiwanis Club, SHS students and community volunteers.
About 30 workers started showing up at 8:30 in the morning to paint a new booster mural, paint some additional walls and do a lot of touch-up painting.
This was another installment in a series of projects that the Key Club started four years ago to paint the bare concrete walls of the track area, add school-spirit murals and revitalize the track surface. As a result, the track area has gained new life and become a showcase for the community and school district.
Hundreds of volunteer hours and thousands of dollars have been donated over the years. Thanks go out to donors and volunteers including Eccles Paving, school district personnel, Key Club members, faculty sponsors and the Kiwanis Club of Springville.
