USPS worker retires after 33 years

r Clint. W. Harwood of Spanish Fork is retiring after 33 years of work for the U.S. Postal Service at offices in Utah County.
Harwood began his USPS career in 1984 when he had an opportunity to apply and it seemed like a good career opportunity for him. Since then, he has worked in Provo for 13 years, Orem for one and a half years, and at the Spanish Fork office for 18 and a half years. His job duties have included working as a postal carrier, delivery supervisor, distribution clerk and sales and service associate with most of his duties at the front counter.
“When I first started, I enjoyed being outside and getting to serve those people on my route and getting to know them by name,” Harwood said. “Eventually as I got older, I decided I would like to be indoors and out of the harsh winter weather and hot summer weather. I always wanted to be back in my hometown, so when transferring to Spanish Fork as a sales/service associate, it gave me the opportunity to serve the customers that I knew and get to know those that I didn’t.”
Harwood said his favorite parts of the job were helping customers and making new friends, adding that the thing he will miss most in leaving the USPS will be the friendships he has made while serving the people of Spanish Fork.
